Psychologist for Professionals

Understand what’s driving the pressure
Practical and solutions focused
Tailored to how you think and work

You used to feel in control. now work feels like a strain.

Maybe you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, or burnout. Perhaps you’re wondering whether it’s time for a career change, or simply feel like something needs to shift — even if you’re not sure what.

You’re capable and want to perform better, but internal struggles make work harder than it needs to be. Without the right strategies and support, the pressure builds. What once felt manageable begins to impact not just your performance, but your wellbeing and relationships.

What brings people here is often work-related. But work, personal life and psychological health are deeply connected — what affects one tends to affect the others. Together, we can look at the full picture.

When the pressure builds, confidence dips, or clarity disappears.

Whether you’re struggling or proactively looking for psychological support

You don’t need to have it all figured out

Some people come to me in a genuinely difficult place — burnt out, anxious, or feeling like things are out of balance. Others are managing well but want to perform more sustainably, get clearer on where their career is heading, or work through challenges that keep getting in the way.

What they tend to have in common is that they’re professionals who are here for themselves. They take their career’s seriously and have reached a point where pushing harder isn’t working. This is for professionals who know that something needs to shift — even if they’re not sure what.

Where Psychological insights meet Practical Action

Coaching psychology combines the deep understanding of human behaviour from psychology with the action-oriented approach of coaching. The goal? Helping you to find sustainable ways to perform without sacrificing your wellbeing or losing sight of what’s important outside of work.

Solutions focused and goal-directed

My approach is current and future focused. We touch on past issues when it helps create understanding about your current challenges. Together, we’ll explore the problem and work towards change using practical, evidence-informed solutions.

A Different Approach to Performance

You already know how to work hard. What often gets in the way of performing sustainably isn’t effort — it’s how you relate to your thoughts and emotions, and what you focus on. Rather than telling you to push harder, I help you get clear about where to direct your energy. Together, we’ll uncover what truly deserves your attention and just as importantly what you might need to let go of.

Sustainable performance is about finding different ways to experience your thoughts and emotions rather than fighting against them, and being intentional with what you focus on.

A Clear and Focused Plan

We start by getting clear on what you’re working toward and what’s been getting in the way. Together we’ll develop a focused plan that fits your situation and goals — one that’s practical and specific enough that you always know what we’re working on and why. As your goals evolve, the plan evolves with it.

Understand Your Personal Patterns

Gain insight into the relationship you have with the thoughts and emotions that affect how you perform and show up. Understanding these patterns is where meaningful shifts begin. This isn’t about dwelling on the past, it’s about understanding yourself well enough to move forward in a different way.

Mindfulness
Skills You Can Use Straight Away

Sessions are practical by design. We’ll often work on skills together in session so you leave with something concrete to try. Whether it’s managing your response to pressure, improving focus, or communicating more effectively, the goal is that you leave with something immediately useful.

Explore Your Values and Strengths

Understanding what matters most to you and where your strengths lie helps guide decision making and lays a foundation for sustainable confidence. Rather than focusing only on what’s not working, we build on what is. This isn’t about thinking positively – it’s about building confidence that’s grounded, not forced.

Resources and Tools to Keep You Moving

After every session you’ll receive a brief summary of what we covered and what might be helpful to focus on. I’ll send any resources that might be helpful to supplement what we covered in session. There’s no formal homework – I get that you lead a busy life – but even moments of reflection or small shifts in what you do can be helpful.

successful new leader
Meaningful, Lasting Change

The goal is change that carries beyond the session and into your work and life. For the professionals I work with it might look like feeling less reactive under pressure, making decisions with more clarity, or simply feeling like they’re back in control. Together, we work on gradual shifts from session to session that build over time.

FAQs

Coaching Psychology

My approach integrates the deep understanding of human behaviour from psychology with the action-oriented approach of coaching to help you create meaningful change in your work and life. It’s a solutions focused and goal oriented approach to psychology. It’s more than just talking – we use practical, evidence-based strategies so you can move forward with clarity and confidence.

If you’re unsure whether this approach is right for you, we can discuss this during your free intake call.

Uplift Psychology is a psychology practice, not a coaching service. As a registered psychologist, I’m regulated by AHPRA and held to the professional and ethical standards that come with that. What I offer draws on coaching methodology — its forward-focused, goal-oriented approach — but it’s grounded in psychological science and delivered within a clinical framework that coaching services can’t provide.

The practical difference is that you get the structure, accountability and evidence base of psychology, with the action-oriented focus of coaching — rather than having to choose between the two.

Psychologist: Psychologists are registered health practitioners regulated by AHPRA, requiring a minimum of six years of university training. Their practice is grounded in evidence-based methods and psychological science, and they can diagnose and treat mental health conditions.

Psychotherapist: Psychotherapists focus on the subconscious, drawing on techniques to resolve past trauma and improve wellbeing. The term “psychotherapist” is not a protected title in Australia, so training and qualifications can vary.

Counsellor: Counsellors primarily provide ‘talk therapy’ — a confidential space to share thoughts and feelings, usually as a short-term approach for straightforward issues. Like psychotherapists, “counsellor” is not a protected title in Australia.

Coach: In Australia, anyone can call themselves a coach without formal training or qualifications, so skill level and quality varies considerably. Coaching tends to be future-focused and aimed at helping people enhance their performance or achieve specific goals, but typically doesn’t draw on evidence-based psychological frameworks.

Coaching Psychology (what I offer): Coaching psychology combines the scientific rigour and evidence-based methods of psychology with the forward-focused, goal-oriented approach of coaching. As a Registered Psychologist, I bring both formal psychological training and regulation, and the practical, performance-oriented methodology of coaching — giving you structured, evidence-based support focused on sustainable change.

Rates & Rebates

No referral is needed to book an appointment with me. You can get started by booking an intake call through the client portal.

If you’d like to access a Medicare rebate for your sessions, you will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP. It’s worth noting that your GP will need to provide a referral as part of this process. See the next FAQ for more information on rebates and Mental Health Treatment Plans.

A Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) is a document prepared by your GP that outlines your mental health needs and goals. It allows you to access Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar with a registered psychologist.

To get a MHTP you’ll need to make an appointment with your GP and let them know you’d like to discuss a mental health. Your GP will assess whether a plan is appropriate for you. If they prepare one, you’ll also receive a referral to see a psychologist.

Yes — rebates are available through Medicare and private health insurance.

Medicare: With a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP you can claim a Medicare rebate of $101.55 per session, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. This reduces the out-of-pocket cost to $218.45 for an initial session and $173.45 for subsequent sessions.

Private health insurance: Rebates depend on your level of cover. I can process your private health insurance rebate at the time of payment for most health funds. It’s worth checking with your insurer before your first appointment.

Appointments

Two of the biggest questions people have when considering a psychologist are whether I can help with their specific challenges, and whether we’ll actually work well together. I’ve put a lot on this website to help you get a feel for my approach, what I can help with, and what it’s like to work with me. Take your time and look around — by the time we speak, I’d like you to feel like you already know me a little.

The intake call is there to help you answer the fit question. It’s a relaxed 15-minute conversation where you can ask questions, share a little about what you’re looking for, and decide whether this feels right before committing to anything.

I’ll call you at the time you’ve booked for a relaxed, 15 minute conversation. This isn’t a pushy sales call, and there’s no pressure to book a follow up appointment. It’s a chance for you to ask questions, share a little about the type of support you’re after and for us to work out whether this feels like the right fit for you. If I think I can’t help with your specific issue, we’ll talk about what you need and I’ll refer you on to someone I think can.

I am currently welcoming new clients. The best way to check appointment availability is to view my calendar directly in the client portal — no account needed to browse available times. If you have a preferred day or time, feel free to mention it during your intake call and I’ll do my best to accommodate.

That depends on your goals and what you’re working on. Some people come with a specific challenge or decision and find clarity in a handful of sessions. Others prefer ongoing support to build momentum, develop skills, and work through multiple areas over time.

In your first session, we’ll discuss your goals and work out an approach that suits where you’re at — whether that’s something targeted and short-term, or a longer-term plan. There’s no set formula, just a structure that works for you.

As we work together, I can provide guidance on what frequency and duration makes sense based on your progress and goals.

There’s no fixed schedule — we’ll work this out together based on your goals and what feels productive. Many people find fortnightly sessions work well, others prefer weekly while working through something specific, and some step back to monthly check-ins once they’ve built momentum.

The idea is to start with whatever frequency gives you the support you need, then adjust as things shift. Together, we can talk about the best pace for you.

Is this service for me?

I am not currently accepting new Workcover or Accident Insurance clients.

I am not currently able to offer bulk bill arrangements.

I occasionally work with people who are close to turning 18 where I consider them to be an appropriate fit for the service. I only work with people under 18 where they are considered to be consenting minors — young people of sufficient maturity and sound mind to provide informed consent on their own. Those with severe mental health concerns or at risk of harm to themselves or others would not typically be considered a consenting minor.

This is outside my scope of practice. Coaching psychology is forward-focused and may not be the right fit for people who need trauma-focused therapy. If you’re looking for trauma-focused therapy, you may like to contact Connect the Dots

I don’t currently offer assessments or formal diagnoses as part of my service.
